Vision

To become a world-class center for the development of instruments for agriculture, forestry, natural resources, and environmental Management (AFNREM) applications.

History

The UPLB Instrumentation Research and Development Center was formed to address the instrumentation needs of researchers in agriculture, forestry, natural resources and environmental management (AFNRM) sectors.

It embraces the interdisciplinary and transdisciplinary approaches in research as part of UPLB’ thrust to make its research, development, and extension programs more holistic, more inclusive, and more responsive to the needs of the society.

Objectives

  1. Provide facilities for the design, development and fabrication of automated control systems, robotics, instruments, sensors, and modules for AFNREM applications
  2. Provide technical support in the identification of specialized instruments and other automated control systems needed by faculty, researchers, extension personnel, and students related to their projects and researches
  3. Design, develop, and fabricate automated control systems, robotics, instruments, modules, and sensors for AFNREM applications
  4. Train faculty, researchers, extension personnel, technicians, students in automation, robotics and instrument design, and fabrication through regular training programs and workshops
  5. Help enhance the competitive advantage of local stakeholders in AFNREM through provision of relevant automation and instrumentation technologies and information for better decision- making

Program Thrusts

  1. Development of facilities for the design and fabrication of automated systems, robotics, instruments, sensors and modules for AFNRM
  2. Technical support to industry, academe, researchers, extension personnel, and students for the selection of automated systems and specialized instruments needed in their work
  3. Research and development of automated systems, robotics, instruments, sensors, and modules for AFNRM
  4. Training of faculty members, researchers, extension personnel, technician and students in robotics, automated systems and instrument design
  5. Generation of innovative automated systems and instrument designs for smarter AFNRM
